Looking back at this week’s embedded M2M solutions news, several new developments occurred during the ITEXPO (News - Alert) East conference in Miami.
Some of the leading industry experts in the M2M space discussed how real life M2M technologies and applications are helping businesses fuel growth and productivity during the M2M Evolution Conference.
For example, with places like McDonald’s, KFC and Burger King becoming as ubiquitous as supermarkets, it is no surprise that obesity and high blood pressure have become critical adversaries for companies all over the world to attack.
And here in America, these health issues as well as other chronic diseases are running rampant which has charged companies with finding ways to improve patient care and monitoring, particularly in the home, reported TMCnet’s Carrie Schmelkin.
“Everybody agrees with what the problems are the thing is we can’t make people have better diets or make people exercise more, but we can do some things and that’s where wireless telehealth comes in,” Henry Rosen, vice president of M2M Business Solutions, said during today’s M2M Evolution session, “The Evolution of Remote Monitoring and M2M Solutions for the Healthcare Industry… One of the things we can do is we can help with the management of chronic disease with remote patient monitoring.” For more on the problems surrounding healthcare today and how M2M can help, click here.
Sprint (News
- Alert) made quite a splash at ITEXPO East 2012 this week, from delivering keynote addresses, to giving standing room only M2M Evolution presentations to taking a dive into the smart grid space for other sessions.
“Sprint is every exited to be at this conference because of our commitment to wireless innovation,” George Kandt, Sprint product marketing manager, told TMCnet today about Sprint’s presence at the show. “This conference is a great expo for sharing ideas and for spurring great thought and the M2M Evolution track is a great opportunity for people to learn more about all the opportunities in wireless M2M that can really transform the way we live, work and play.”
Sprint’s Chief Sales Officer for Sprint Business Paget Alves (News
- Alert) delivered a well-received keynote about how businesses are challenged to foster innovation more than ever before and businesses must try to think like the customer to better meet their needs. For more on that, click here.
Capping off the week in embedded M2M solutions news, jointly working with wireless operator Sprint M2M wireless asset tracking, sensing, and control solutions provider OnAsset (News - Alert) Intelligence Inc. launched a dual mode CDMA/GSM asset tracking solution for use around the globe. The developers claim it is the industry’s first-ever dual mode CDMA/GSM asset tracking solution, TMCnet’s Ashok Bindra reported.
According to OnAsset, the company worked closely with wireless carrier Sprint for several months to create a dual mode version of SENTRY, the company’s leading asset tracking solution used by many of the largest shippers in the world to track the location, temperature, pressure, humidity, light, motion, shock and vibration of high value assets transported via any mode of freight.
The dual-mode solution now expands the reach of asset tracking capabilities and offers customers greater flexibility in deploying the solution. For more on this announcement, click here.
