Embedded M2M Solutions - TMCnet Embedded M2M Solutions Week in Review

The machine-to-machine revolution is moving forward at a fast pace. No, this does not mean we have to worry about the robot apocalypse, like in the Matrix or Terminator films. All it means is that more and more machines are talking to each other, enabling better, stronger and faster technology. Each week there is plenty of news in the embedded M2M solutions space, and this week is no different.

Let’s take a look at a couple of the hottest stories!

This week, the Ciena Corporation announced that several of its technologies have been selected by Spirit Communications, a business telecom service provider. Spirit has selected the 5430 Packet-Optical Reconfigurable Switching System and OneConnect Intelligent Control Plane software.

“By deploying Ciena's optical switching and control plane technology, we are able to establish a high-availability mesh network between the major POP locations within our footprint across the Carolinas,” said Greg Guerra, EVP business development and product management at Spirit. “Additionally, the network enhancements will allow us to scale our network, both now and in the future, to support our customers' increasing demand for Carrier Ethernet services, wireless backhaul and data center interconnectivity.”

In other embedded M2M solutions news this week, the OleumTech Corporation has partnered with American Sensor Technologies in a move that will make AST the official supplier of high-quality pressure sensors.

Karmjit Sidhu, vice president of Business Development of American Sensor Technologies, said “OleumTech is considered a market leader in wireless automation, we share similar markets and applications and we believe working together will increase market share for both companies. AST is very pleased to be selected as their pressure sensor supplier.”
