While Hurricane Sandy ravaged the northeastern United States, the world of technology marched on! This week was an exciting one in the embedded M2M solutions space, with news from Trimble (News - Alert), Telit and RACO. Let’s take a look at the top stories.
First, Joyce Tam, product manager for field service solutions at Trimble, spoke about how cloud-based telematics solutions can save money and hassles for businesses of all sizes. Tam discussed how small businesses can utilize cloud-based fleet management solutions to make their jobs easier. These solutions are available on almost any device, from a laptop to a smartphone to a tablet, so fleet managers can access information from almost anywhere.
Also, solutions that are hosted in the cloud do not require expensive on-premises installations or upkeep, and therefore save money in the long run, meaning they’re no longer just for large enterprises.
In other news, Telit Wireless (News - Alert) Solutions, a company that specializes in M2M modules and services, has developed a new LTE module for European and North American OEM and aftermarket automotive segments. "The LE920 is Telit's new high-performance automotive product which also introduces to the market our new form factor for this segment. One which provides our R and D and product management teams with lots of space for future integration of new and valuable features and resources for our automotive customers," said Dominikus Hierl, chief marketing officer at Telit Wireless Solutions.
Finally this week, RACO has integrated its wireless infrastructure and device management platform with iMetrik’s (News - Alert) M2M solutions. "We are thrilled with the partnership with RACO Wireless. RACO's platform, known as the Omega Management Suite, is a solution that we are very excited to be able to integrate into our solutions," said Medhat Mahmoud, VP of Technology & Strategy at iMetrik M2M.
