Embedded M2M Solutions - TMCnet Embedded M2M Solutions Week in Review

In the United States, this week has been a busy one, as Americans stuffed their faces with food and football on Thanksgiving, and many brave souls ventured out on Black Friday (News - Alert) to look for the hottest consumer deals. But the excitement was not limited to holiday food and shopping.

The tech sector also had a busy week, and there was a lot of news from the embedded M2M solutions space. Here are some of the top stories from the week.

First up was news that FieldLogix has created a green GPS-based fleet management system. Teaming up with embedded M2M solutions expert Sprint (News - Alert), the new solution will facilitate more efficient fleet management by creating more visible vehicle routes, monitoring aggressive driving and providing minute-by-minute location updates. “Sprint has demonstrated its commitment to the burgeoning Machine-to-Machine (M2M) services industry by investing in its network and providing a team that’s dedicated to developing emerging solutions,” said Yukon Palmer, CEO at FieldLogix.

In other embedded M2M solutions news, Audiovox has developed a telematics system, available at retail stores nationwide. The solution, Car Connection, allows users to interface with it from their desktops, tablets or smartphones. “Car Connection is one of the most exciting products we have brought to market in some time,”   said Tom Malone, president of Audiovox Electronics. “As our tagline says, it will allow consumers to Monitor, Manage and Maintain their vehicles health; the habits of the drivers…knowing how fast or aggressively your teenage son is driving or whether your daughter is using her cell phone while driving or where your aging parent has wandered off to with the family car.”

Finally this week, another Sprint partner, 5th Screen Digital Services, spoke to TMC (News - Alert) about how it handles impossible tasks. The company goes above and beyond mere digital signage, creating unique displays that use M2M connectivity to make deployment easier for store managers and avoid network outages. They even made a custom display that incorporated a “Guess That Spice” smell challenge for McCormick World of Spice.

So, from fleet management to flavor management, embedded M2M solutions are everywhere. Check back soon to see more news from this space!
