STMicroelectronics (News - Alert) recently announced the availability of its software and associated microcontrollers, which have been designed to optimize performance and usage of low-cost high-tech electronic equipment. STMicroelectronics is a specialist within the semiconductor market for electronics applications.
In a statement, Dominique Jugnon, Microcontroller Development Tools Manager, STMicroelectronics, said that, "Even very small systems with limited resources, can now have smartphone-smooth user interfaces that are clear, intuitive and attractive. STM32Java is the first commercial-quality development platform that truly enables product developers to realize that goal."
STM32Java essentially is a comprehensive toolbox that supports development of advanced graphical user interfaces (GUI) for a range of products, which includes kitchen appliances, office machines, industrial tools and medical instruments that use ST's STM32 microcontrollers. Additionally, STM32Java can support the development of small machine-to-machine (M2M) communication apps ideal for Internet of Things (IoT) devices, such as remote sensors.
The STM32Java product line comes with an advanced and fully integrated Java solution designed specifically for STM32 microcontrollers. The platform will deliver an Integrated Development Environment via its Java compiler, a number of Java platforms, which support STM32 microcontrollers, as well as standard libraries and related tools. It will also offer an easy way to connect Java and C, and provide simulators that are functionally optimized, in addition to starter-kits and pre-designed STM32 part numbers that support device production.
The company collaborated closely with IS2T, an industry-leading Java platform vendor, to optimize the software to run with STM32 microcontrollers. Also by providing software royalty-paid STM32 microcontrollers (STM32J), the company has been successfully in offering a simplified business model which makes it easy for customers to cost-effectively and quickly bring products to market.
