Embedded M2M Solutions - Qualcomm Technologies, Deutsche Telekom Unveil IoE Development Platform

Deutsche Telekom (News - Alert) will now offer an Internet of Everything development platform, which utilizes the Gobi QSC6270-Turbo chipset from Qualcomm Technologies, to application developers across the globe. The IoE development platform, compatible with Oracle (News - Alert) Java ME Embedded 3.2, will be ideal for developers aiming to produce ground-breaking machine-to-machine and IoE applications.

Speedy prototyping, testing and implementation of cellular-enabled IoE applications will be possible with the IoE development platform. The platform leverages the application processing capability of Qualcomm (News - Alert) Technologies’ QSC6270-Turbo chipset, facilitating developers to write and implement applications straight on the modem chipset.

In a statement, Thomas Kiessling, chief product and innovation officer at Deutsche Telekom said, “The M2M market needs horizontal solutions, from the cellular connectivity enabled by Qualcomm Technologies’ chipsets to the Java programming environment, and they come together nicely in this IoE development platform being launched. From first glance, we knew that this piece of hardware would become an important part of our global efforts to grow the M2M ecosystem and market.”

The IoE development platform will be leveraged by Deutsche Telekom for stepping up advances among its M2M Developer Community, thereby facilitating end-to-end M2M offerings.

According to Judson Althoff, Senior VP, Worldwide Alliances and Channels at Oracle, the organization is excited to collaborate with Qualcomm Technologies and Deutsche Telekom. This latest IoE development platform can be utilized by Java developers globally for developing cellular linked device-to-data center applications, a prospective huge business opportunity.

Kanwalinder Singh, senior VP, Business Development at Qualcomm Technologies said, “Qualcomm Technologies’ vision of the Internet of Everything involves more than simply enabling devices with cellular connectivity; it is about bringing our industry-leading mobile device technologies to fuel innovation in new verticals. We are pleased that Deutsche Telekom and Oracle share our vision that IoE development platforms, such as this platform based on the QSC6270-Turbo chipset, can help solve the needs of developers and customers across industries and geographies, and accelerate the IoE market.”

Interested developers can pre-book the IoE development platform at the M2M Marketplace of Deutsche Telekom. The development platform is expected to be available by second quarter of 2013.
