Nowadays, driving is not just about moving from one location to another, but is about operating a safer, economical and more efficient fleet along with turning driving downtime into a more rewarding and valued set of experiences.
Intelligent Mechatronic Systems (News - Alert) (IMS) is a company specializing in telematics and infotainment technologies. The company announced the availability of its new next generation Fleet Intelligence solution which offers a highly accurate fleet management tool at a competitive, all-in-one price point for fleets of all sizes
The company previewed its new Fleet Intelligence solution at Insurance Telematics USA 2013.
"IMS Fleet Intelligence is another example of the many programs made possible through the extensible IMS DriveSync platform,” said Otman Basir, chief executive officer of IMS. “Organizations using our platform can deploy once and then offer additional telematics programs and connected car services in the future."
Basir also mentioned that IMS’ fleet solution enables organizations to better control fuel fraud, overtime expenses and unauthorized vehicle usage, while lowering the potential for damage incidents through driver coaching and behavior management.
Mention was also made as to how the solution can help commercial line insurers obtain a new fleet-oriented revenue stream and value-added services. With the help of the fleet management portal, commercial lines insurers now have the opportunity to provide their small fleet businesses with actuarial-grade data, thus allowing an advantage of insurance discounts and lower claims using the same tool that manages their fleets.
Key features includes real-time vehicle location, behavior-based events and alerts, fuel consumption, idle time information, trip distances, shift tracking using smartphones, and customized vehicle/driver reporting.
Built on the IMS DriveSync Connected Car platform, the solution also extends into Usage-Based Insurance (UBI), providing a fleet-oriented UBI solution for commercial lines insurers.
To date, IMS has developed a portfolio of more than 140 Connected Car patents and patents-pending across a diverse range of technologies throughout North America, Europe, the Middle East and Australia.
