Embedded M2M Solutions - Icontrol Certifies New Devices for OpenHome Ecosystem

Latest studies predict smart home revenues will reach $71 billion by 2018, and the market will be led by software developers and device manufacturers to create intelligent, connected objects.

Icontrol Networks, a provider of connected home solutions, has been pioneering the next generation of connected living through its OpenHome Partner Program, a community for application and device makers to partner on a common platform.

Through this OpenHome Partner Program, the company recently certified eleven new devices. Ranging from connected keyless door locks to thermostats and light switches, the new additions are said to address top consumer needs and bring new depth to Icontrol's growing smart home ecosystem.

"More than 70 applications and devices have been certified and are now part of the OpenHomeecosystem, with 80 more currently in the works," Jason Domangue, vice president of ecosystem development at Icontrol said in a statement.

Domangue also said that the devices and apps have been integrated using OpenHome's secure, solid open standards, to ensure they all work together frictionlessly in real-world conditions.

“No other interoperability program is addressing the mass market needs like the OpenHome program," added Domangue confidently.

The OpenHome Partner Program is an open interoperability program for developers and device makers. The Program simplifies application-level integration, which has long been the bane of Connected Home deployments. Also, it provides API's to enable apps and services to take advantage of the Connected Home.

The newly-certified devices join industry leaders Pebble, Sylvania Ultra iQ LED Bulbs, and CentraLite in the growing OpenHome ecosystem.

Icontrol Networks' 2014 State of the Smart Home Report found that consumers identify security and energy management as two of the top reasons to purchase a smart home system. Keeping this as criteria, the company has certified devices for the OpenHome ecosystem.

The newly OpenHome-certified Kwikset (News - Alert) SmartCode 910 and 914, as well as the Weiser SmartCode GED1495 and GED 1800 Keyless Entry Door Locks, comes with remote locking features. Other additions such as the Salus Optima Thermostat and Jasco ZigBee (News - Alert) In-Wall ON/OFF Switch 45856 will allow consumers to monitor and manage their energy consumption to keep usage in check. Other new OpenHome-certified products include: Bosch TriTech Motion Detector ISW-ZDL1-WP11G; Bosch Wireless PIR Motion Detector ISW-ZPR1-WP13; Jasco ZigBee In-Wall Dimmer 45857; Jasco ZigBee Plug-In Dimmer, Lamp Module 45852; Jasco ZigBee Plug-In ON (News - Alert)/OFF, Lighting and Appliance 45853.
