Embedded M2M Solutions - Airbiquity Adds Two Content Providers to Choreo Connected Car Platform

Airbiquity, Inc., the world’s leading provider of cloud-based connected vehicle services, has announced the addition of two infotainment content providers – Twitter (News - Alert) and TuneIn Radio – to its Choreo platform. Choreo provides advanced vehicle connectivity technology upon which four programs are built:

  • Connected Vehicle: delivers basic connectivity functionality, management and operation
  • Driver Experience: supports infotainment procurement, delivery and management
  • Driver Assistance: provides personalized assistance for security, crisis and convenience reasons
  • Driver Efficiency: helps optimize Hybrid, PHEV and EV vehicle ownership and operation

Choreo provides a fully integrated interface that allows these apps to run through an in-dash display without the need for a smartphone. The Driver Experience model is Airbiquity’s main focus at the moment and the addition of Twitter and TuneIn Radio as top-tier content providers is a major advancement. Other content providers already supported include Facebook (News - Alert), iHeart Radio, Google Search, Pandora and TripAdvisor, and it can be surmised that the company’s portfolio will continue to grow.

Apps for Choreo are specifically developed for perfect compatibility and include additional features to promote safe vehicle operation. Users are unable to input text while the vehicle is in motion, for example, and there is a strong text-to-speech framework. The company has realized people’s thirst for infotainment will not die down anytime soon, so it only makes sense that there should be a much safer way to access it while in a car (as opposed to smartphone operation, for example).

The Choreo platform is rapidly gaining popularity and has already been installed in over 4 million vehicles around the world. It can be easily customized, deployed, and scaled for connected car programs in over 50 countries and for about 30 different languages. Airbiquity plans to continue adding support for leading content providers in order to satisfy customers, and is performing extensive researching and testing to see what other exciting possibilities await thanks to the development of the connected car platform.
