Embedded M2M Solutions - M2M Solutions from Spireon Enable Mobile Resource Management for Businesses of All Sizes

Since its founding in 2002, Spireon has seen a rapid growth in M2M adoption. In fact, the company has more than 1.5 million subscribers on its network and is a leader in the mobile resource management space.

All of this experience in the M2M space has taught the team some valuable lessons, and shown some truths about the industry.

I sat down with representatives from Spireon at this year’s M2M Evolution conference to discuss the company’s solutions and its strengths in the space.

For one thing, a good M2M solution is not just about collecting scads of data about a particular asset (like a vehicle). It’s also important to turn that data into real-time, actionable business intelligence. To do this, Spireon takes the time to learn the true pain points in a particular industry and build a front-end system that can handle a wide range of requirements from companies in a variety of verticals.

Brad Jarvis, chief marketing officer at Spireon, explained that the company focuses on creating a platform that can be used by business of all sizes and in many different verticals. For example, Spireon’s fleet management solutions are used by companies that range from the smallest of businesses, to large enterprises with huge fleets of vans or trucks, to trailer and trucking companies.

All of these companies require business intelligence, and the Spireon portal is flexible and agile enough to meet the needs of these companies.

It’s always a good sign when a customer loves a company enough to become its spokesperson. And when that customer-turned-spokesman is NFL Hall of Fame coach Joe Gibbs, there’s a little extra clout. Gibbs used Spireon solutions to track his fleet of racecars, and then decided he liked the company so much that he wanted to be a part of it.

Now Spireon has a program that uses Gibbs’ fame to help incentivize good driving. Teams of drivers can get tips from the coach and earn rewards for excellent performance.

Another team member who used to be a customer is Mike Edwards, vice president of professional services. Edwards worked for a large distributor that used Spireon solutions to manage its fleet of trailers. Now he brings his unique insight and experience to bear when he helps explain Spireon’s advantages to customers. For example, a company like Coca-Cola has hundreds of thousands of assets and only needs to know when the unexpected happens (a truck does not arrive, for example). The Spireon user interface sifts through the data and turns it into actionable information, which can then be sent as an e-mail, text message, or whatever the end user prefers.

Speaking of assets, Spireon understands that this term can mean more than just trucks and cases of soda. People can be the most valuable resource for any company – especially one in the healthcare space. Spireon is working on a new series of solutions to meet the requirements of Medicare and Medicaid, as they attempt to crack down on overbilling for home health visits. The firm can track the nurse or home health aide and determine when he or she arrives in order to eliminate fraud and provide proper billing information.

Because of government mandates, this is a big growth area for the company.

There are a lot of players in the M2M space, but Spireon has experience and vision. The company sees the future of M2M as one that can benefit all companies, providing immediate ROI. And Spireon is poised to be a leader in the space for the next decade and more.
